Day 12 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Today's lesson is from Luke 12 - two Do Not Fears packed into a couple verses!  Jesus says,

I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body,
and after that do nothing more.  But I will warn you whom to fear;
fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell.
Yes, I tell you, fear him!
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?
Yet not one of them is forgotten in God's sight.
But even the hairs on your head are all counted.
Do not be afraid; you of more value than many sparrows!

Here's the video:

And here's a wonderful, familiar song about how great God is!

Day 11 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Today we're back in Luke, in , in chapter 8, verses 40-42 and 49-56.  It's the wonderful story of the healing of Jairus' 12 year old daughter, and the words, "Do not fear; only believe."

What a great thing to remember!  With all the racial chaos going on right now, with the virus still hitting us hard, with many things in such a mess, it's so important to remember, Do not fear; only believe!  It's something you should probably say many times to yourself throughout the day!

Here's the video:

And here's a wonderful video that reminds us the importance of remaining At The Cross - again, the words are there so you can sing along!

Day 10 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Today we return to Luke and check out the calling of the first disciples in Luke 5:1-11.  It's a fishing boat story - and after seeing what Jesus did, they left their nets and followed Jesus.

They surrendered...to Jesus.  So let's talk about just what that meant for the disciples and for us today!

Here's the video:

And this is just such a great song!  Listen in and be sure to sing along!

Day 9 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Today we're skipping to Matthew, but remaining with the Do Not Fear in the birth narrative about Jesus.  Matthew tells the story of Jesus' birth through the eyes of Joseph; Luke tells through the eyes of Mary.  So in Matthew, the angel appears to Joseph in a dream, after Joseph had resolved to quietly divorce Mary after he found she was pregnant.  Here's our verse, Matthew 1:20:

But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him
in a dream ans said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife,
for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

And here's the video:

And here's a wonderful video called Joseph's Lullaby - listen to it a couple times and you'll just love it more and more!

Day 8 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Today we're on our third day of the 10 Do Not Fear statements in the Gospel of Luke!  We've looked at old Zechariah, young Mary, and now the mangy shepherds.  Somehow, whoever you are, you can find yourself in the midst of those three people/groups!

Our verse is Luke 2:8:  In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night.  Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for see, I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people; to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord."

Here's the video:

And here's a great video that asks who would such great things for us except God!?!

Day 7 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Here we are at Day 7 and we're on the second day of looking at the Do Not Fear sayings in the Gospel of Luke.  Today we continue in Luke chapter 1 with the visitation of Gabriel to the virgin Mary.  Be sure to have your Bible and we'll look at some of the differences between Mary's response to the angel and Zechariah's!

Here's the video:

And here's a beautiful song that ties in to the angel's visitation with Mary.  And you can sing along with the chorus is you know it!

Day 6 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Day 6 of Do Not Fear!  Today we begin 10 days looking through the 10 Fear Nots! in the Gospel of Luke!  The first one is in the story of Elizabeth and Zechariah (parents of John the Baptist) in Luke, starting in 1:5.  Be sure to have your Bibles open to Luke as the study begins and we'll look through the whole story of the angelic announcement of Gabriel to Zechariah in the Temple!

Here's the video:

And here's a wonderful song that I just love!  I'm including one with the words so you can sing along, even if you can't hit all the high notes!

Day 5 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

We're at Day 5!

Today our verse is again from Exodus 14 - Moses and the people of Israel at the Red Sea - Part 2.  And here's what Moses tells the people:

"Do not be afraid, stand firm, and see the deliverance that the Lord will accomplish for you today;
for the Egyptians whom you see today you shall never see again.
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to keep still."
Exodus 14:13-14

Today we'll look at the three parts of Do Not Be Afraid, Stand Firm, and See the Deliverance (or Salvation) that the Lord will accomplish for you today.  Here's the video:

And I know this is a little hokey, but it's a great old song that's set with a cartoonish depiction of the people of Israel crossing the Red Sea.  Bear with it - it's not so bad, and the message is good!

Day 4 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Here we are - Day 4!

Today our verse is from Exodus 14 - Moses and the people of Israel at the Red Sea.  And here's what Moses tells the people:

"Do not be afraid, stand firm, and see the deliverance that the Lord will accomplish for you today;
for the Egyptians whom you see today you shall never see again.
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to keep still."
Exodus 14:13-14

We'll spend two days on these verses, so here's the video from the first day:

And here's a devotional song - Be Not Afraid, sung on Zoom!  It's a tad long,
so hang in there with it and listen on through!

Day 3 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Welcome to Day 3 of Do Not Fear!  Today we join Peter in (and out of) the boat in an important Fear Not!

Here's the Scripture: Matthew 14:22-33
 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.  After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,  and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.  When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Do NOT FEAR.”
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”  Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.

And here's the video:

And here's a hymn medley that I think you'll love for your closing devotional thoughts!

Day 2 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Today is Day 2!  Each day we're looking through one of the 365 instances in the Bible where it says, "Fear Not!", or "Do Not Be Afraid!"  Yesterday we looked at Joshua 1:9 and today our focus is on Isiah 41:10:
So do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

It's a wonderful passage of Scripture, and one thing I suggest in the video is something to think about:  The beginning of fear and anxiety is the end of faith - and the beginning of faith is the end of fear and anxiety.

Think about that.  We'll be talking about the nature of fear and anxiety over the next weeks, and also about the importance of faith in overcoming fear and anxiety.  Lots to think about!

Here's the video:

And here's a wonderful song for you to listen to - it's a familiar song and I chose one with the lyrics in the song so you can sing along!  I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Day 1 - Do Not Fear!  God's Word of Hope for Every Day!

Today we begin a journey looking at the 365 times in the Bible where we hear, "Do Not Fear,"  "Do Not Be Afraid," or "Fear Not!"

Each of these occurrences address a fear but includes a promise.

Each day there will be a post with a "Do Not Fear" Bible verse, followed by an 8-10 minute video, and concluding with a devotional song for you to listen to that I hope will lift your spirits!

Today our verse is Joshua 1:9:  Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord is with you wherever you go.

Our devotional song is by Jennifer Rothschild, Take Me to the Cross, which is familiar to our women on our online Bible Study!
